ABUJA MEDICAL CITY OVERVIEW


  • This comprehensive project construction is valued at approximately $400 million.

    Abuja Medical City, Giri, awarded a Group from Germany, a contract to provide preconstruction and construction services for the 20 Hectare Abuja Medical City situated within 10km from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. A major state of the art hospital which will include a Clinical Cancer Center as well as associated enabling projects. The group will provide on-going engineering design and consultation services including research lab and vivarium planning, utility planning and upgrades, and operational troubleshooting.

     

    While Nigeria loses over $500m yearly to medical tourism abroad, capital plight per patient ranged between $20,000 and $40,000 per trip. The hospital, which will be the first of its kind in Africa, will make Nigeria a medical tourists centre in Africa in terms of  capacity and personnel to cater for.

  • The project will be on short design schedule and fast-track construction schedule using GLP and AAALAC guidelines. Abuja Medical City Hospital is expected to be operational in 2015.

     

    Abuja Medical City, 300-bed tertiary care center, will comprise Surgery, Critical Care Services, 5 Operating suites. 96 critical care beds and 204 intermediate care beds. This health care campus will be among the region’s most innovative and advanced facilities. The Abuja Medical City contributes to UMI’s vision to become a global center of excellence for healthcare delivery.

     

    The project will be designed to achieve LEED certification. It will include a green roof space and the first laboratory certified under the LEED silver core and Shell pilot program. The Clinical Cancer Center will house all major cancer programs including radiology and diagnostic treatment, 55 multidisciplinary exam rooms, 75 infusion stations, 25 clinic rooms, three linear accelerators and a pharmacy. Our services will include: Cardiac Sciences, Neurosciences, Orthopaedics and Joint Replacements, Spine Surgery, Critical care, General Surgery, Internal Medicine and Clinical Hematology, Gastroenterology and GI surgery, Urology, Nephrology, Aesthetic surgery, Medical / Surgical Oncology, Transplant Medicine. Other features include an outdoor terrace and a café.
